The Gothic Sasquatch project, conceived in Denver (often regarded as the bass music capital of the United States) was launched by Brandon Wallis in late 2022. Wallis produces innovative cross-genre tracks that often eschew the predictable composition format. Originally focused solely on darkwave and experimental bass, he has since expanded his portfolio. Following his growing success with overseas listeners, he released his debut ambient album Nightfall in 2024. His recent single, "Imperfect and Beautiful," garnered positive reception, with his latest track "Into the Light," available internationally on March 28. With over 25 tracks spanning genres from house to darkwave, ambient to classical, his recent works evoke deep emotion and tell compelling stories. In interview, he has stated upcoming projects for 2025-2026 aim to seamlessly blend elements of progressive house/EDM, classical, and freeform bass, creating innovative and captivating dance rhythms.
Gothic Sasquatch (Brandon Wallis) is a Nashville-based composer and producer originally from Mississippi. His musical journey began in youth as a concert tubist, laying a foundation for his diverse sound and love of classical ensembles. Influenced by his exposure to jazz busking, the early rave scene, and the vibrant street music emanating from events like The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Brandon developed a deep appreciation for various genres. His first professional opportunity in music came as a DJ for 91.1 WMSV radio. Throughout his military career, Brandon traveled the world, further fueling his passion for global music. After retiring from the military, he fully immersed himself in live music with the goal of independently producing. This marked the beginning of his pursuit of industry mentors to stay connected with the evolving landscape of electronic music, leading him to festivals and venues such as Bonnaroo, DREAMROCKS, EPROM's Syntheism Robotics, Denver's Mission Ballroom, and Decadence NYE. He launched as an independent recording artist in 2022.
Gothic Sasquatch's music is electronic based, often mixing lofi vocals, keyboard, percussion and steel drum, with accompanying brass and classical string to create ambient journeys. He acknowledges the following artists as key influences in shaping his distinctive sound:
